Comprehensive psychiatric assessment for individuals seeking psychiatric care for the first time.

About this clinic

A weekly clinic for comprehensive psychiatric assessment. Appointments are allocated a minimum of one hour and may extend up to four hours where clinically indicated. Many initial assessments are approximately two hours. Referral is required from a family physician or nurse practitioner. A support person may accompany you. Following assessment, a summary and treatment plan is sent to the referring clinician and shared with you.

What happens during assessment

  • Discussion of symptoms, experiences, and treatment preferences.
  • Review of physical health, current and past medications, and relevant investigations.
  • Where relevant, developmental and educational history.
  • Collaborative initial treatment plan shared with you and your family physician.
