Preparing for your first appointment
A calm, considered first visit — paced for you, not the clock.
What to expect
- A referral is required from your family physician or nurse practitioner.
- Appointments are usually about two hours; some are one to four hours depending on complexity.
- Breaks and environmental adjustments are available.
- A support person may attend if you wish.
- A collaborative treatment plan is developed with you.
What to bring
- Valid OHIP health card.
- List of current and past medications.
- Contact details for your family physician.
- Insurance information, where relevant.
- Notes about your symptoms, concerns, and treatment goals.
